you expect something to turn out badly, it probably will. Pessimism is seldom disappointed. But the same principle also works in reverse. When you expect something good to happen, they usually do.There seems to be an effect and cause relationship between optimism and success.

Optimism and pessimism are both powerful forces . We must choose which we want to shape our outlook and expectations. There is enough sorrow and happiness in everyone’s life, sufficient pain and joy, to find a rational basis of either optimism or pessimism.We can choose to laugh or cry, bless or curse,it is our decision, from which perspective do we want to view life, to look up in hope or down in despair.

I choose an upward look. I will highlight the positive and slip right over negativism. I am an optimist by choice as much as by nature, sure, I know sorrows exist. I am in my 70 years now, I have lived through more than one crisis, when all were said and done, I find the good in life far overweighs the bad.

An optimistic attitude is not a luxury, it is a necessity , the way how you look at life will determine how you feel, how you perform, how well you will get along with other.Conversely, the pessimist（ ['pesimist]   n. 悲观主义者） thoughts, attitude and expectations will feed on themselves, they will ful-filling the prophecy.The pessimism creats a dismal place where no one wants to live.

Several years ago, I drove into a service station to get some gas.It was a beautiful day, I was feeling great.As I walked into the station to pay for the gas, the attendant said to me ：“How do you feel?”It seemed like an odd question, as I felt fine, I told him so.He said：“You don’t look well”That completely took me by surprise, a little less confident, I told him I had never felt better .Without hesitation he told me how bad I looked and my skin appeared yellow.

When I left the service station, I was feeling a little uneasy, about a block away, I pulled over to the side of road and look at my face in the mirror,“How did I feel?”“Was everything all right?”I was beginning to feel a little queasy, Did I have a bad liver? Had I picked up a rare disease?

The next time I drove into the service station, feeling fine again, I figured out what had happened. The place had recently been painted a bright yellow, the light reflcting off the walls made someone inside look as though they had a hapetiti. I wondered how many folks had reacted the way I did.

The only thing more powerful than the negativism is a positive affirmation ,a word of hope and optimism.One of the things I most want to thankful is the fact that I had grown up in the nation with a grand tradition of optimism. When a whole culture adopts an upward look, incredible things can be accomplished. When a world is seemed as a positive and hopeful place, people are enpowered to attempt and to achieve.

Optimism doesn’t need to be naive.You can be a optimist and still realize the problems exist and some of them are dealt with easily.What a difference optimism makes in the attitude of problem solver, the optimism diverts us from negativesm and channel into the positive and constructive thinking. If you are an optimist, you concern more about problem, solving than useless carping about issues.Without optimism issues as big and ongoing as poverty without a hopeful solution.It needs a dreamer- a hopelfulness optimism, great persistance and unlimited confidence, to tackle（对付） a problem that big. It is your choice.
